Annie Pootoogook, 46, was a well-known Inuk artist originally from Cape Dorset, Nunavut, who lived in Ottawa, Ont. She was known for her contemporary drawings of Inuit culture. On the morning of Sept. 19, 2016, her body was found in the Rideau River. Ottawa police continue to investigate Pootoogook’s case. The force asks anyone with information about what led to Pootoogook’s death to contact its major crime section.
